What Kids Need to Know About Divorce
There comes a time when people exchange beautiful vows. For some it is out of pressure from other sources. There are some that did not want to get married at all. They just do it because it feels safe and is expected of them from the society. Many people assume that it is what other people expect of them. It ends up being a lovely wedding but not a lovely marriage. And this is okay. This guide talks about what kids need to know about divorce.
It is not always that you meet someone who has potential. Many people don’t reach their potential. This is because of choices they make or inability. Potential is limiting. People look at what they see there and then. This is what the rest of the world sees. This mistake has been made with ex boyfriends at some point in life. At that point you perceived that they had all the qualities you were looking for. You admired the way they talked, walked and after some time it became just another story.
Many people love the idea of getting married.
However, it can turn to be tough despite being healthy and functional. Each one of you can be doing their best but you will still encounter some rough patches. It is important to let your kids know that divorce doesn’t necessarily mean that any of you is doing something wrong. Abuse can occur. There also could be miscommunication. It could also be because of irreconcilable differences. Divorce has to be based on legitimate grounds. At some point parents have to do what is right and stop beating themselves up. Regret is not necessary because at one point this person was your source of joy.
It is important to acknowledge the fact that divorce can be devastating. However, being in a marriage that is not satisfying can turn out to be very awful. There are times when couples can go for marriage counseling and it helps them. However, for some divorce is left as the only alternative.
Couples are allowed to change their minds and do what is best for them. Every person is free to make their choices to make despite the world being so judgemental. Kids need to know that their parents are not failures in case things don’t work out. Divorce just like change is always not smooth. However, staying in a marriage that is not fulfilling can be dangerous. You will keep thinking about the risks that you did not take and the freedom that you can get from being free. This is what can hurt the most which can be toxic.
